Posted by Natalie Marsh on Thursday, July 8, 2010,
Hi!  We left camp a little later today, 7.30!  We rode from Burnham on Sea down to Ilfracombe for breakfast.  After this we headed of to Padstow.  At Padstow I got on the back of Dad's bike and then we all travelled down to Land's End.  We went on some more excellent roads and saw some beautiful scenery, and we also had some great weather, which was really appreciated!  We took some pictures at Land's End that we hope you like, and then it was back on the road again.  This time we were headin...

Well, this morning we said goodbye to the Lake District and went down to Blackpool.  In total today we have ridden 290 miles, including going right through the centre of Liverpool and are now in Wales in a small village called Dyffryn Ardudwy, which is just outside Barmouth.  We are staying a campsite owned by a lovely couple who seem very kind.    The sun has been shining most of the day, but it was raining earlier thhis evening, so fingers crossed for another good day tomorrow.  Anyway here...

Posted by Natalie Marsh on Tuesday, July 6, 2010,
Morning!  Today we left camp at 6.20am with a view to getting a few miles behind us.  We travelled through Lancaster and on to Blackpool by 10am, where we stopped for something to eat.  It is a dry and sunny day so far, so we are hoping to travel quite a bit further today.  Here is a picture of Godfrey and Blackpool Promenade, can you see Blackpool Tower in the background?

Hi again! We have had a really good day's riding today, covering approx 340 miles, which means in total we have now travelled more than 2,100 miles!  We are spending a well deserved night's rest in Ravenglass, which is between Whitehaven and Barrow.  The weather here is very different as well, it is lovely and warm and sunny, which we really appreciate now.  Here's a photo of Godfrey after a hard day's ride.  xx

RIDING AGAIN!

Posted by Natalie Marsh on Monday, July 5, 2010,
We all got up early this morning and began riding as soon as we could.  We have been through some heavy rain and got soaking wet, but there is much less wind today.  We are making good headway so far this morning and hope to do quite a few miles today to catch up a little.  Unfortunately this means we have had to change a couple of our camps, but hope that everyone invloved understands.  Thanks guys.

SUNDAY - WEATHER UPDATE

Posted by Lee Marsh on Sunday, July 4, 2010,

It is still raining and very windy here in Lochgilphead, so we after much investigation and discussion we have made the difficult decision to not try and ride today.  We hope that we will be able to get up and leave early tomorrow morning and try and make up a few miles so that we can still try and be back to Beaulieu on Saturday.  So fingers crossed!

STORMS

Posted by Lee Marsh on Sunday, July 4, 2010,
Well, we woke up in the middle of the night to severe wind and torrential rain!  This morning when we got up the weather had not improved.  We have looked on-line and discovered there is a storm surrounding us and it is not due to ease up until late this afternoon.  Unfortunately, we have had to make the decision to stay here and sit it out.  It would be foolish to try and ride our bikes.  We are hoping that it will clear up soon and that we will be able to get going again, but for now, who k...

DAY SEVEN Contd

Posted by Natalie Marsh on Saturday, July 3, 2010,
This afternoon we continued our journey to Fort William where we stopped for a short while before continuing to our campsite, which tonight is in Lochgilphead.  Some of the scenery along the way has been amazing, but we would like to see a little more sunshine!  After our extremely long day yesterday it was good to get o camp today early enough to put up the tents, cook a meal and relax a little.  We covered another 265 miles today, which means we have ridden over 1,700 miles in total so far!...

ULLAPOOL

Posted by Natalie Marsh on Saturday, July 3, 2010,
Well we sent last night in this lovely little campsite just outside Ullapool, unfortunately the rain just threw down!  We have been travelling towards Fort William all morning, but have just found out that our puncture repair kits work, as Darren had a puncture!  We are all staying together again today because of the type of road we are on, and also Colin woke up with back ache this morning.  Hope you like the picture.  xx

OVER THE TOP

Posted by Natalie Marsh on Friday, July 2, 2010,
Well, this afternoon our convoy rode right across the top of Scotland, mostly in the pouring rain, and then headed South again.  I think Godfrey still managed  to sqeeze in a bit of sightseeing in the glorious Scottish Highlands.  Tonight, we are camping in Ullapool which means we have covered over 250 miles again today, but we are really pleased with our progress so far.

DAY SIX - JOHN O'GROATS

Posted by Natalie Marsh on Friday, July 2, 2010,
Well last night we saw the most amazing sunset, it completely filled the sky.  I hope this picture does it justice!  During the night we had extremely heavy rain, but this morning it is windy, but the sun is shining.  We travelled up through Wick and by lunchtime we had made it to John O'Groats!  Its amazing to think that we are already at the top, but the longest part of the journey is still to come.  Couldn't get away with it any more, so Wendy Ice and I had our photo taken with Godfrey as ...

This afternoon we had another long ride.  When we left Banff we rode through Inverness, Tain and have made camp in Dornoch, meaning we have travelled another 295 miles today and are now only approx 80 miles away from John O'Groats!!  We are beginning to get very weary and some of us even had a roadside nap at lunchtime, as the picture below shows!  At the camp site at 8.30 this evening the sun is still shining high and bright in the sky, and Godfrey is enjoying another lovely the view from th...

THE FIRST 1000 MILES

Today, Thursday, we left St Andrews at 7am in slightly damp conditions!  We rode through Dundee, Arbroath, Montrose, Aberdeen, Petershead (where we looked the the massive trawlers) and stopped at Banff for lunch.  This means we have now clocked up our first 1,000 miles of the trip - only 3,000 to go!  It is raining now, but we hope that it will brighten up whilst we are riding this afternoon...
