DAY FOUR - OUR FIRST SET-BACK

Posted by Natalie Marsh on Wednesday, June 30, 2010,
We left sunny Whitby at 7 o'clock this morning and rode through Middlesborough, Newcastle, Ashington and aimed to be in Berwick upon Tweed for lunch.  Unfortunately, in Alwick Iain dropped his bike and snapped his gear lever!  Natalie and Iain went in search of spares, then we fixed the gear lever as best we could and got to Berwick approx 1 hour later than scheduled!   At least the sun is still shining and it didn't take too long to sort out.  This afternoon we rode on and crossed the border...

WHITBY

Posted by Natalie Marsh on Tuesday, June 29, 2010,

Ok, this afternoon we have travelled through Grimsby, across the Humber Bridge, which was spectacular, then on to Bridlington, across the Yorkshire Dales with its fantastic views and into Whitby.  Altogether we have travelled about 200 miles today.  Here are two pictures of Godfrey, one in Bridlington and the other sat in Whitby waiting for his fish and chips!  We are off to find our camp site soon so we can reflect on the good roads we have come across today.

Well we left Kings Lynn after an excellent night with Jon and Julie who gave us a wonderful evening and dinner, and then bacon rolls this morning.    We awoke to rain, but, luckily, it was dry by the time we left.  We have travelled up through Skegness and on up to Cleethorpes where we stopped for a break at lunchtime.  We are hoping to get to Whitby tonight.  Here is Godfrey in Cleethorpes.

DAY ONE! AND WE ARE OFF!

We had a fantastic send off from Beaulieu today, with lots of supporters cheering us on.  Thank you to everyone for the send off.  We had a good day's riding, through Chichester, Brighton, Hastings and arrived safe and well, but very hot, at Dymchurch.  Wendy had prepared us a delicious dinner and the camp site owners very kindly donated some drinks.  Here are some pictures of Godfrey in Hastings and Brighton.
