Well, we woke up in the middle of the night to severe wind and torrential rain!  This morning when we got up the weather had not improved.  We have looked on-line and discovered there is a storm surrounding us and it is not due to ease up until late this afternoon.  Unfortunately, we have had to make the decision to stay here and sit it out.  It would be foolish to try and ride our bikes.  We are hoping that it will clear up soon and that we will be able to get going again, but for now, who k...

We left sunny Whitby at 7 o'clock this morning and rode through Middlesborough, Newcastle, Ashington and aimed to be in Berwick upon Tweed for lunch.  Unfortunately, in Alwick Iain dropped his bike and snapped his gear lever!  Natalie and Iain went in search of spares, then we fixed the gear lever as best we could and got to Berwick approx 1 hour later than scheduled!   At least the sun is still shining and it didn't take too long to sort out.  This afternoon we rode on and crossed the border...
